Two main reasons why people didn’t like their internship experience

| Posted in Interior design

Presently, it is extremely fashionable to do internships. Parents, friends, teachers at uni – literally all of them were convincing me that I should do it as well as that it will be very useful experience. Unluckily, I was naïve enough to believe them , thus made up my mind to do my internship during my holidays.

The selections process for the position was pretty rough. They checked my foreign languages and analytical skills. So, I was totally sure that this internship would be something meaningful – presumably I might have been too sure – I need to say that I didn’t even question any details regarding my future duties.

Back then I was simply so happy with the news that I received the intern offer, that I didn’t come up with idea to request important information. At that time it was sufficient for me to be familiar with the company where I was going to intern in. At this moment I am aware that it was rather a big mistake. Sadly, I think that this lesson was actually the only useful experience I learnt from this whole experience.

Before I was convinced that during the internship I would learn this sort of knowledge as well as skills which are applicable also to any other similar position. Sadly, during that internship I was mostly conducting these tasks that no other worker was interested to do. I understand that somebody always gotta to do these stuff , but at the same time I would love to learn something useful while doing the intrnship.

Unluckily, I didn’t. To be honest I learnt a lot about New York city and its neighborhood as I was helping other employees doing the most boring things which they did’t want to do. Ironically, I learnt where to do cheap custom printing nyc or where to find best coffee in the city. But I don’t believe that this is the category of knowledge I should gain as an intern.

Secondly, they didn’t pay me any stipend. I am aware that I was not a professional thus I don’t have too much experience they may need, but I was still doing some things they would pay for their workers to conduct. Consequently, I really believe that they should reimburse me at least small amount of money. Only to confirm that they appreciated my time.
